Information from event announcement:
Teachers are invited to join the Duke-UNC Consortia in Middle East and Latin American and Caribbean Studies for a day-long interdisciplinary workshop to explore environmental issues in Latin America and the Middle East. During this interactive one-day workshop, teachers will explore pressing global environmental concerns including issues related to water, climate change, mining, and environmental activism. Through various learning activities, teachers will deepen understanding of environmental issues specific to each world region as well as comparative ways to examine these issues across regions. Participants will also gain resources and teaching strategies related to these themes and more. Sessions will include a keynote lecture, panel discussions, film screening, and interactive art activity with environmental artist Bryant Holsenbeck.
This workshop is FREE and open to K-12, community college, college, and pre-service educators. Spaces are available for 25 participants on a first come, first served basis. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. To register, please fill out the form here: http://go.unc.edu/K12environment. For more information, please contact me at email@example.com.
