Some of most transcendent cultural icons of the Middle East are women popular singers, often seen to embody significant sociopolitical meanings.  Hear from a diverse range of speakers on these “Voices” that have come to represent far more than the popular songs they sing to their adoring fans worldwide.  Gather valuable resources for introducing your students to Arab, Turkish, Kurdish, and Persian popular music.
