Bridging a Cultural Divide with Literature about Arabs and Arab Americans

This article makes the case for including multicultural literature featuring Arabs and Arab Americans in the classroom. The authors argue that adolescents benefit from seeing themselves represented in literature and that reading books whose protagonists are of Arab heritage can help break down barriers, misconceptions and stereotypes. The article concludes with recommendations of books that are appropriate for the middle school classroom.
